Oath of Delivery
"Deliverance through delivery.” This is the code of the Courier Brigade, the beloved group of intrepid couriers and courageous knights, who, for the last several centuries, have devoted themselves to the safe delivery of the island’s packages and mail. Postal Knights, as these brave individuals have become known as, are renowned for their dedication to their organization, and the people it serves. This dedication, in its truest form, comes with a blessing from the island—delivered as a package of magical gifts that only the greatest of postal knights may receive. These gifts shape the knight, often forming them into the brigade’s greatest heroes and granting them the title of Paladin.
Tenets of Delivery
The tenets of the Oath of Delivery Paladin are followed by all postal knights. However, the Paladins who uphold these tenets must never waver, as only the most dedicated of knights are blessed with the Paladin’s gifts.
- Deliverance through Delivery. Always look to serve others before yourself.
- No Call Unanswered. There is no job too far or path too dangerous to take.
- Humility Before Conflict. I will not allow my hubris to bring me to conflict with others.
- Leader of the Bold. I will not abandon my comrades, even if it means my life.
Historic Line of Knights
The Courier’s Tomes, a written history of the Courier Brigade, claims that the first of the postal knights and the four founders of the organization each embodied one of the Paladin’s core tenets. These individuals would go on to inspire generations of young Obojimans and craft a movement that profoundly changed the island of Obojima for the better.
This still rings true to this day, as those who strive to be like those individuals are beloved by the people and blessed by the island.
Level 3: Oath of Delivery Spells
The magic of your oath ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Paladin level specified in the Oath of Delivery Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
| Paladin Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 5 | At Your Side*, Pass Without Trace* |
| 9 | Haste*, Plummet* |
| 13 | Freedom of Movement*, Pacify Monster* |
| 17 | Dream*, Scrying* |
Level 3: Courier’s Seal
Immediately after you hit a creature with an attack, you can expend one use of your Channel Divinity to place a magical stamp on the target that is visible only to you and creatures that can see invisible objects. Alternatively, you can expend one use of your Channel Divinity to touch an object as a Bonus Action and stamp it in this way. If the object is being worn or carried by an unwilling creature, that creature can make a Dexterity saving throw, preventing you from placing the stamp on a success; the creature automatically fails the save if it isn’t aware of your presence.
The stamp lasts for 1 hour. For the duration, you always know the target’s location, provided it’s on the same plane of existence as you. While you have this knowledge, the target can’t become hidden from you, and if it has the Invisible condition, it gains no benefit from that condition against you.
As a Bonus Action while the target is within 1 mile of you, you can teleport to an unoccupied space within 5 feet of it; if you’re riding a steed or Mounted vehicle, it teleports with you (other riders are left behind). The stamp vanishes early if you teleport in this way, if you use this feature again, or if the stamp is targeted by a Dispel Magic* spell or similar magic. When the stamp vanishes, these effects end.
Level 7: Aura of Deliverance
You and allies within your Aura of Protection gain the following benefits:
- Opportunity Attacks against you take a penalty to their attack rolls equal to the Paladin’s Charisma modifier (minimum of −1). If an Opportunity Attack hits, the damage is reduced by the same amount.
- Whenever you gain the Prone condition, you can immediately take a Reaction to right yourself, provided your Speed isn’t 0.
Level 15: Brigade’s Bond
Whenever you cast Divine Smite*, the target takes an extra 1d8 Radiant damage if one of your allies is within 5 feet of it. In addition, while a target is stamped by your Courier’s Seal, you can take a Magic action to cast Scrying* without expending a spell slot or needing Material components, targeting the creature or object that bears the stamp. The target automatically fails its save against the spell. If the target is an object, the spell’s sensor is created within 10 feet of the target and moves with it. Once you cast the spell in this way, the stamp vanishes.
Level 20: Paragon of Deliverance
You have become the exemplary model of a postal knight, which the island has rewarded. As a Bonus Action, you can imbue your Aura of Protection with power, gaining the following benefits for 10 minutes or until you end them (no action required). Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a Long Rest. You can also restore your use of it by expending a level 5 spell slot (no action required).
Brigadier’s Mark. Your Courier’s Seal feature doesn’t require you to expend a use of your Channel Divinity to use it. In addition, whenever one of your allies in the aura hits a creature with a melee attack, you can place a stamp on the target (no action required), as if by your Courier’s Seal feature.
Captain’s Sacrifice. Enemies within the aura have Disadvantage on attack rolls against your allies.
Courier’s Cavalry. When you use this feature, and at the start of each of your turns for the duration, you can cause each Medium or smaller creature of your choice in the aura to immediately become mounted on its own spectral steed (using the statistics of a Riding Horse* from the Phantom Steed* spell), provided the creature is willing. If one of these steeds takes damage, and it isn’t in your Aura of Protection, the rider is forced to dismount, and the steed immediately disappears.
